Black Swan.

The Michelin-starred Black Swan was awarded The Best Restaurant in the UK 2018 by The Food and Travel Magazine and the ‘Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the World’ by TripAdvisor, in 2017.

We were approached by the Black Swan to produce a unique set of table knives.

.

When considering the design for these knives, we decided to mimic the signature dish of the restaurant.

Tommy Banks is known (amongst many other things) for the beautiful dish consisting of crapaudine beetroot, slowly cooked in beef fat.

The knives mimic this dish by using a natural hardwood Purple Heart; Peltogyne genus. The wood naturally has the purple colour we were looking for. To help prevent the wood from swelling or splitting, the handles were held in a vaccum chamber for a week to draw out any air pockets in the wood before being flooded with a food safe resin.

Custom looks.

As well as using the beautiful swan logo on the blade, the motif was also used on the handle pins. The black resin contrasts with the brass swan making for a unique and exquisite looking pin.

The purple handles were paired with a black liner before meeting the stainless steel, hardened to 59 HRC and finished with a brushed satin look. Classic lines with a touch of glamour mean that these knives will be a talking point for diners for years to come.

These knives fit into their surroundings at the Black Swan perfectly.
